20 th C entury TIME AND PLACE  There where many political leaders during this time.  There where Adolf Hitler of Germany, Joseph Stalin of the soviet union, Franklin D. Roosevelt of the U.S.

There were many wars during the 20 th Century  There was World War I ( )  World War II ( )  The Korean War ( )  And the Vietnam War ( )

Music during this time  Classical music during the 20 th century is called dissonant period. The reason why is because it was against the common practice period.  After world war 1 many composers returned to former centuries for inspiration.  There where many styles of music in the 20 th century: Romantic, Impressionism, Modernism, Futurism, Expressionism, Neoclassicism, Electronic music, and many more.

Instruments of the 20 th Century  Instruments during this time were the same as with the other Centuries.  The two instrument invented where the saxophone, and the sousaphone.  The saxophone was invented by Belgian Adolphe Sax. It was invented during the 1841, but he didn’t patent it until  The sousaphone was invented by C.G. Conn, on the request of composer John Philip Sousa. It was developed in the 1890’s
