History The Austro-Hungarian Empire was a constitutional union of the Empire of Austria. The union was created in 1867 but collapsed in 1918 when they were defeated in World War 1. They became a union as result of the Compromise of 1867.

Geographic Locations The austria hungarian empire was a small mountainous country in central europe. They are located near germany and italy. It is slightly smaller than the state of maine. It shares a border with switzerland.

Alliances Austria-Hungary was a part of the triple alliance. The triple alliance lasted from 1882 until World War 1 in 1914. Austria-Hungary was a part of this triple alliance with Germany and Italy.

Leaders -Archduke Franz Ferdinand- Heir to the throne of the Austria-Hungarian Empire and was the main reason of the outbreak of the war. Was later assassinated. -Emperor Franz Joseph I- Nephew of archduke franz ferdinand, became emperor of austria-hungary and issued serbia a harsh ultimatum.

Long Term Reasons For War Serbia took over Bosnia then two years later Austria-Hungary got Serbia to give Bosnia back to Turkey Hated the Serbians

Short Term Reasons For War Archduke Franz Ferdinand Assassinated Suppressing Anti Austrian-Hungarian propaganda - Serbia didn’t complete all demands from Austria-Hungary

Austria-Hungary Demands For Serbia 1. Stop all publications attacking Austria, 2. Suppress the Black Hand and all other anti-Austrian terrorist groups, 3. Stop schools teaching anything that would make pupils hate Austria, 4. Dismiss any civil servants or army officers who were anti-Austrian, 5. help the Austria government suppress all anti-Austrian terrorist groups, 6. Allow Austrian police to help in an investigation of Serbia's links to Franz Ferdinand's assassination, 7. Arrest two officials who were believed to have helped plan the assassination, 8. Stop Serbs smuggling weapons from Serbia into Bosnia, 9. Stop criticising Austria, 10. Accept all the above points without delay
