Corps Community Month This year, during the entire month of October, we will celebrate Corps Community Month NHSC sites, clinicians, Ambassadors, alumni, and state, professional and academic partners across the nation host activities and events –Raise awareness about the vital role of the primary care workforce –Highlight the impact the Corps has in increasing access to primary care in underserved communities with limited access to health care 8

Increased Involvement and Reach! 176 grassroots events took place in 50 States, Washington, DC, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands Media coverage by 32 national and local outlets (cumulative monthly readership over 6 million impressions) Over 80 events took place on campuses 11

Creating a Statewide Campaign for a Successful Corps Community Month Start a planning committee Ambassador portal to find other Ambassadors in your state and set up a planning conference call. Invite health profession advisors, Health Science Teachers, community-based organizations, health care industry. Use existing partnerships/ networks Recruit partners using your existing relationships and networks. Contact your PCO manager and ask them to send out a list of activities and invite former or current LRP or Scholarship recipients to volunteer at the events. 14
Create a state specific toolkit Modify the NHSC generic toolkit materials specific to your state. Download stickers, brand water bottles, freebies etc. Think long-term Research annual events that align with mission of NHSC and your organization (bring awareness to the importance of primary care) that already occur in October. Share what you are doing Send announcements to newspapers, letter to editors, take photos (Photo release forms available), invite local and state officials. 15

Seven Steps in Seven Weeks Decide on the best activity/event fit for you and your community Identify partners/Create your invite list to: –assist in planning your activity or event –help promote your activity of event –speak and attend/participate in your activity or event Nail down the location and time. Register your event on the Corps Community Month registration page. Reach out to local media. Follow-up with activity/event partners, speakers, participants. Share your success! 24
