12 Chinese Taipei Existing Problems: 1.There is no data available to simultaneously indicate that an enterprise is regarded as an SME, both on the basis of the number of employees and the amount of paid-in capital or revenue. 2.Data from different sources should not be used together. 3.Some of the data provided does not cover the entire business community. 4.Issue of inconsistent business classification criteria.

13 Chinese Taipei Improvements in the future 1.The frequency of the updating of statistical data on SME should be increased. 2.A ‘number of employees’ column should be added to the VAT declaration form. 3.Statistical data on the marketing and R&D of SME should be reinforced. 4.A ‘gender’ column should be added to VAT data to support studies on issues relating to women in the workforce.

14 Chinese Taipei Conclusion By providing extensive detailed statistical data we would like to portray a clearer picture of SME in Chinese Taipei, thus to provide an appropriate reference for the international community SME statistics.
