Supporting FASTER Win for the New System Admin Learn about the basics of System Administration for FASTER Win; Functional areas to be covered: Table Code Management, User Permission Management.

Al Steven  Support Team Lead  7+ Years Experience with Faster  End User Training, Train the Trainer, Customer Support Calls, and Support Techs internally.  Several Computer Industry Certifications  A+, Net+, MCP, MCSE

System Administrator Role  The System Administrator is the key person responsible for maintaining the system after it is installed. This person assists others in using FASTER efficiently and accurately.  Serves as the primary contact between the site and the CCG staff.  Insures the software maintenance procedures are followed, including updates and system backups.

End of Period Applet, Postings  Used for each Billing Period to process data for Billing  Also used to update important data for vehicle records  Recovery Dollars Collected, Depreciation based on System Switches, Monthly Vehicle Usage, Maintainance and Repair Dollars totaled for Life To Date information.  Always post for LAST MONTH  Once Annually, run Beg FY Meters

System Settings Applet  Table Lookup  Table Codes are like foundation and backbone of the Faster System  File Cabinet, File Folders, and Sheets of Paper  Some are fussy about being created carefully  Some are merely for convenience

Fussy Codes  Very Important  EBC  CPM  EAC (DTC)  FP  MID  WRR

Some Codes Depend on Each Other. Interrelated Codes  FUL, FP, or FT with System Switches  LSR along with LMR  ZAP (SInfo)  WST  Add the Code and don’t forget the EAC code

User Permissions  Default Permissions define what your end user can see after the applet opens  System Settings\User Info\Properties  Default Settings define what your end user sees when they open the specified applet  Work Order, Parts Inventory, Equipment Inventory  Extra thoughts on WO Settings

Table Permissions  Make sure all users can do what their job or role defines.  Create a new piece of data, See a piece of data, alter an existing piece of data, remove a piece of data.  Add, Inquire, Update, Delete  Who would be interested in having the power to prevent accidents?

Special Notes for FASTER 6.0  Class Codes get some special attention  Adding Users get some special attention
