How can you help and support your child with their learning? Listen to your child read regularly – preferably every day Ask your child questions about the story and check they understand any new words. Read TO your child so your child develops a real interest and desire to read for themselves Support and encourage your child with their homework Help support your child learn the ‘basics’ of maths – number bonds to 10 then 20, timestables. Mental maths, for example adding 10 and 2 in in their head and 23 add 6. Play games to support your child’s learning – ‘snap’ / BINGO – help develops their sight vocabulary Hangman – supports spelling Timestables games – Woodlands junior website has a great number of timestables games, especially good is ‘Hit the Button’
Any Questions?
Please speak to your class teacher for any further queries BUT Please remember your child is just 6/7 years old and they SHOULD NOT feel pressured or stressed…they are maximising learning and achieving aspirational opportunities! Thank you for attending
