Schools Direct Salaried finances Schools receive training grant £19k (for Physics, Maths, Computing, Chemistry, MFL) £14k(for English, History, Biology, Geography, Music,D&T) DfE pay to Lead school via LEA. Lead school distributes to partnership. School pays University £3k for training to QTS. SD Salaried trainee can opt into PGCE(PP) by paying for M level assessment of assignments.

SD Training finances Student receives loan of £9k for course fees. Student pays University £9k with loan. University pays lead school £3k for school based training and uses £6k for training, validation of QTS and PGCE (subject) award.

Strengths from our Self Review The Quality of our trainees: Strong selection. 94% met or exceeded initial target grades. Over 75% of trainees entered with 2.1 or above. By the end of training 95% PGCE and 100% GTP were graded 1 or 2 in June 2013 (up from 90% in June 2012). The class of June 2013 is highly employable: 95% of 11-18, 100% primary and 100% GTP are now employed teachers. Highest ever % graduating with M level PGCE. From , ALL PGCE graduates will be M level.

Partnership Improvement Priorities Retention: From 86% in to 90%+ (Physics, Maths & MFL as target areas). Developing trainees’ experience, skill and confidence with: Assessment (summative & formative) Working with pupils from BME and/or EAL backgrounds. The use of ICT in the classroom. Preparing trainees to work with the 2014 National Curriculum.
