Tonight we will take a look at…  Math achievement data  Reading achievement data  Academic goals and benchmarks  Examples of student work  What you can do to help!

Math Achievement:  Standards for Benchmark 1 Solve basic multiplication and division problems to 100 in a context Solve a comparison problem in a context Identify right angles in shapes Identify parallel and perpendicular lines in shapes

Math Achievement:  Standards for Benchmark 2 Identify equivalent fractions, simplify fractions, compare fractions, order fractions Add/subtract mixed numbers with like denominators in context Add/subtract fractions with unlike denominators in context

Analytic Reading Inventory (ARI)  Administered in September  Will be administered again in January and May  Tests students’ reading rate and comprehension abilities  Expectation: 124 words per minute by May  Let’s look and listen!

What is our goal?  District (by the end of this year…) 80% of 4 th graders at grade-level 15% of 4 th graders needing support 5% of 4 th graders needing substantial support  Building Percentage of 4 th graders comprehending at grade-level will improve from 16% to 30% by January.

What you can do to help:  Read to or with your student every night! Make this time enjoyable Allow the student to select the book  Let your student see you reading!  Turn on the closed-caption feature on your TV  Encourage writing Write the grocery list Type an to a family member  Let’s look at specific examples in the packet!
