AMATEURISM Bylaw 12

NCAA ELIGIBILITY CENTER  Registration  $65 for domestic prospects  $95 for international prospects  For all prospects initially enrolling at a D-I or D-II institution, including 2-yr, D-III and NAIA transfers.

AMATEUR STATUS  Gap Time Certification  We are responsible for certification of Amateur Status ( )  NCAA International Form/Questionnaire o Must see Compliance to complete form o Review of NCAA EC Certification o Review of “Gap Time” Activities

DELAYED COLLEGIATE ENROLLMENT  Effective August 1, 2012 – All sports other than Tennis  Prospects have a one year grace period after HS graduation to enroll full-time at a collegiate institution  If a prospect competes outside the 1-year grace period and prior to full-time collegiate enrollment they, upon matriculation at a Div. I institution, will: o Lose one season of competition for every year of competition outside the 1-year grace period and; o Be required to sit one year in residence before being eligible to compete

PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES  Community Service, Fundraising, Promotions ( )  Any activity requiring a student-athlete’s name, picture or appearance  Request form is on web site o Funnel Requests through Karen or Lauren  Approved activities are on the I:Drive  Institutional Commercial/Public Service Announcement

VOLUNTEER COACHES  Permissible in sports other than football and basketball  May not contact or evaluate off-campus  May receive max of two comp admissions to home contests  May receive comp meals incidental to team activities

MANAGERS  Must perform traditional managerial duties (laundry, hydration )  Must be enrolled full-time  May participate in limited on-court activities (drill assistance)  May not provide instruction to student-athletes (no coaching)  May not serve as a practice player (no CARA)  In baseball, manager forfeits any remaining eligibility

EMPLOYMENT  Employment  We may not employ a high school, prep school or two-year college coach in same sport  IAWP – Men’s Basketball (11.4.2)  Two year period before and after  Noncoaching staff position  Strength and Conditioning staff position

SCOUTING  Basketball and Volleyball (11.6.1)  Off-campus, in-person scouting prohibited  Exceptions o Regular season tournaments, double-headers, postseason tournaments  All other Sports (11.6.2)  Institution may not pay for expenses to scout opponents  If you receive expenses for recruiting or team travel, you may not scout opponent on road trip.

OFF-CAMPUS RECRUITING  At Any One Time  Coach may leave campus prior to other coach returning to campus  Coach being replaced must complete recruiting before another coach can begin recruiting  Coach being replaced must return to campus before engaging in recruiting activities Bylaw

Q & A Q :  June 22, Rob is recruiting at a soccer camp in Macon.  June 22, Becks is recruiting at a soccer showcase in Nashville.  Rob has seen who he wants to see – he leaves at 6pm and heads to his hotel. Frank is scheduled to be in Birmingham for a showcase on June 23 rd. When can Frank leave Kennesaw for Birmingham?

Q & A A : As long as Frank does not engage in recruiting activities, Frank may leave Kennesaw on June 22. o Bylaw

Q & A Q :  June 23, Frank is at a showcase in Birmingham.  June 23, Becks is at a showcase in Nashville.  Becks has finished recruiting and begins her trip home to Kennesaw at noon.  What does Rob have to do to begin recruiting?

Q & A A : Rob does not have to return to campus and may begin recruiting again on June 24 th. During June, July and August, Rob, the original coach being replaced, does not have to return to campus to resume recruiting activities. Outside of June, July and August, Rob would have to return to campus before being able to resume recruiting activities. o Bylaws and
