Presentation transcript:

+ Why Study Art?

+ WSA Not everyone will go on to become an artist like Picasso Actually only a handfull of people will ever be as successful as Picasso, Georgia O’Keefe, Andy Warhol or Sellers A number of people do make it as actual artists who can sell enough of their paintings or sculptures at galleries to make a living

+ WSA If we were worried about teaching this small group of people how to become artists then it would not be worth it to teach art in school However when students work on art projects they gain the basic skills and background knowledge to be able to use their creativity to construct the solutions needed to solve the problems of the future We need new architects, new software and apps designers, new clothes and house designers

+ WSA Think about it! Who creates the cool designs for the new IPhones, IPads, HeadPhones

+ WSA Web Sites Shoe designs Skateboard designs

+ Autos Graphic novels Clothes WSA Bikes

+ WSA Graphic Design Buildings Package Design

+ WSA All these things begin in someone’s imagination Someone who also learned how to take these ideas and put them on paper or on a computer screen They had laid these ideas out before many times and in other forms until they perfected them and solved the problems
