Unit 4 Visual Vocabulary Gilbert

Population The total number of people who live in a specific place

Population Density Shows the average of how many people are living per sq mile or kilometer

Migration The process of relocating to a new region or place

Pull Factors Things the attract people to migrate to a new region (Money, jobs, resources, etc)

Push Factors This that cause people to leave and migrate to a new region (War, bad economy, harsh government, etc)

Refugee A person who flees their country for safety

Immigrant A person who leaves one country and settles in another

Government An organization set up to make and enforce rules for a society.

Demographers Geographers who study the characteristics of human population.

Rural Areas that relate to the country or farms.

Urban Refers to cities

Economy A system for producing and exchanging goods and services among a group of people.

Habitable Lands Areas of land that are suitable for human living VSVS

Democracy A government in which the citizens make political decisions either directly or through elected representatives

Monarchy A type of government in which a ruling family headed by a king or queen holds political power

Dictatorship A state of government ruled by a leader with ABSOULTE POWER!!!
