Current Proposal For Vocational Training Program (Details)Details Asha Seattle cannot support with much this year. More boys rescued and under SUPPORT umbrella Local donations in cash/kind to cover: – food and nutrition for 100 boys. – Annual picnics – Locker facility and other misc. expenses
Current Proposal – contd. Proposal for 1 year operation includes: – Center rent and utilities (single center for all voc. training) – Center coordinator, social worker, trainers, educators – salary and benefits. – Health and medical expenses for 60 residents (Food covered by another source) – Office supplies, travel and transportation – Training for 160 boys (8 batches): equipment, stipend (Rs. 300 each/month) (reusing machinery from last year) – Sending some boys back home; Total Requirement : $27,000 (today ’ s exchange rate)$27,000 Will train lesser boys with lesser money.

Attracting New Funds Drug-addicted street boys are an invisible population – – “ we play role of snake charmers ” Foreign donors prefer rural projects Sujata Ganega: “ we are too grassroots to build social contacts of film stars, MLA ’ s wife, and others …” Troubling Apathy of society towards these kids: – A local dentist approached for donation said: “ They took drugs for their pleasure.. They were not victims! Why should we take the burden ? ” - Very hard to explain problem
