This is a project for two jelly rolls. Some choices I’ve seen have 10 different patterns, with two of each. So, lets get two sets with contrasting shades and lay them out. We are going to make a Spiral! Assemble Jeff Kaylin (c) 2014
The first task is to make two squares. Overlapping like this shows where to cut. Sew and Cut Jeff Kaylin (c) 2014
Put the strips back and press the squares open. Next Strips Jeff Kaylin (c) 2014
Now place strips along the top and bottom. Sew and Cut Jeff Kaylin (c) 2014
The two middle “squares” are now 2” by 2.25” (seams ate up 0.25” on three sides.) Next Strips Jeff Kaylin (c) 2014
To continue the Spiral, the reddish strip needs to go to the right, and the bluish strip needs to go to the left. Sew and Cut Jeff Kaylin (c) 2014
Now the central squares are 2” by 2”. The whole rectangle is 8.5” by 6.5”. More Strips Jeff Kaylin (c) 2014
Continue the Spiral. Now What? Jeff Kaylin (c) 2014
Looks like we have enough scraps to do it all again. Mirror the Spiral Jeff Kaylin (c) 2014
Okay, let’s put it together like this. Arrange Jeff Kaylin (c) 2014
Here are some ways to arrange them. Enjoy! 40” x 22” 44” x 20” 44” x 40”42” x 42” Jeff Kaylin (c) 2014
