Our Charities We have chosen our charities to be the Royal Brompton Hospital and Lupus UK. Each form group decided on a charity that they wanted to support, and a house assembly took place where the students voted for a local and national charity. Our local charity is The Royal Brompton Hospital, put forward by Daisy, and our house chose it as her Grandad was under medical care there. Our national charity is Lupus UK, put forward by George, which we chose to support his Mum who sadly passed away.

Our events Throughout the past year, we have sold watches, held a crazy tie day and organised an indoor market to help raise money for our charities. Our house watches have been sold in all house colours by our year 11s to help everyone show their support. For our crazy tie day, our house were allowed to wear their most outrageous ties for the day, in return for a £1 donation, in which over 2/3s of our house were a part of.

Our events Our indoor market was the biggest success, involving almost all of our house members, and brining in people from all other houses. Each yellow house form organised groups to run individual stalls. Our stalls included; cake stalls, raffles, hoopla, treasure hunt, homemade pancakes, watches, steady hand game, sponge throwing and more. It was a great opportunity for the whole school to enjoy and was fun to run!

How much did we raise? With all of our events combined, our house managed to raise a total of over… £555 …Which is a fantastic achievement, and we couldn’t have done it without the help of our own and all the other houses.

What will our money go towards? The Royal Brompton relies entirely on charitable donations, and without them it would not be able to function. Our money will help supply medical equipment, staffing, medicine, bills and whatever we raise is going directly to help fund the hospital. Lupus UK is the only national charity that helps people with the immune disease Lupus. It supports over 6,000 members through local groups and also provides funding for medical research into this life threatening and debilitating illness.

Why should we win? We think our house should win because we have got all of our house members involved in our activities, and given the other houses the opportunity to come to our events and take part as well. Also we have chosen charities that are personal to people in our house, so that we have a real motive to help raise money for a good cause.
