The Color Wheel Consist of12 hues Divided into three categories…

Primary Colors Red, Yellow, and Blue Cannot be combined or mixed with any other color.

The three colors from which all other colors can be made. Equal distance from each other on color wheel. RED YELLOW BLUE

Secondary Colors Green, violet, and orange Combining two Primary colors.

INTERMEDIATE (Tertiary Colors) Yellow-green, blue- green, blue-violet, red-violet, red-orange, yellow-orange. Combining a primary and a secondary hue. Primary color listed first.

Appealing combinations of colors.

1. Neutral Absence of color. Black, white, and gray _________________________________ __________________ White reflects light. Black absorbs all colors. Gray is a blend of black and white.

ACCENTED NEUTRAL COLOR SCHEME Combines white, black, gray and sometimes beige with a bright color accent.

2. Monochromatic Tints and shades of one color on the color wheel

BLUE

3. ANALOGOUS Uses adjacent or neighboring colors on the color wheel with varying values and intensities of the colors. Blue-Violet, Violet, Red-Violet

4. Complement Two colors that are directly opposite each other on the color wheel. Examples: Yellow and Violet

5. Split Complement A color scheme using one color with the two colors on the sides of its complement. Examples: Yellow, Blue Violet, Red Violet

6. Triad Three colors that are equal distance apart on the color wheel. Examples: Blue, Red, Yellow

Cool Colors Colors found in snow and ice. Green to red-violet
