What is a Computer Networker? The definition of a Computer Network is: a system for communication between computers. A Computer Networker would do many jobs, these jobs could be to: –Build a network between computers or servers for a company. –Maintain the network they, or other’s have built and make sure it is running properly. –Look for new ways to improve the ways their network runs, and test new methods of running it.(technology, hardware, technique, etc..) –Fix any problems with the network promptly and properly, as well as finding ways to prevent future break downs. –Buy new hardware and software. –Communicate regularly with it’s users. One Computer Networker put it as simply, that is “Making computers talk to other computers”. Networkers can make anywhere from $100,000 to $250,000 per year Table Of Contents If you can read this, you are too close to the computer.

Qualities You Need To become a good Computer Networker, it is good if one should: –Have technical knowledge (PC's, OS's, Databases). –Be able to multi-tasking. –Be calm/patient. –Be a good listener. –Be inquisitive. –Be a good problem solver. If one is able to achieve these personal qualities, it will make the road to success to becoming a Computer Networker, much easier to ride down. Integrated Computer courses (improve logical and critical thinking, as well as improving computer navigation skills). Math (Better understand computer functions). College or University: –There are many Computer Networking courses to choose from. –Some of the most common courses would labeled as: INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTER NETWORKS COMPUTER NETWORKS ADVANCED NETWORK ARCHITECTURE Other Courses: –It is good for a Computer Networker to get some other diplomas or certificates out side of school. –You can take courses like the “ Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) “ If you can read this, you are too close to the computer.
