Its purpose is to provide a first stop communication and information service for everyone involved in the pilot programme, which involves over 38 National Sports Governing Bodies (NGB) across the UK all working towards the Standard. The Standard The first ever equality Standard for sport was launched in November It is a framework for assisting sports organisations to widen access and reduce inequalities in sport and physical activity from under representative individuals, groups and communities especially women and girls, ethnic minority groups and disabled people. It is based around two broad themes: developing your organisation and developing your services and four levels of achievement: Foundation, Preliminary, Intermediate and Advanced. The NGB Pilot Vaga Associates has been commissioned to provide consultancy support to assist 10 UK wide sports to achieve the Standard by 2006 as part of a NGB pilot programme.
