Autobiography Project

Step 1: Create a timeline of all the important events that have happened during your life. You may do this on your iPad, or on paper. When finished with your timeline, make a list of questions you want to ask your parents about your childhood.

Describe your personality. Bell-Ringer 5/19 Describe your personality. Include: habits, style, interests, etc.

Step 2: What are your best characteristics, and why do you like them about yourself? Complete the “I Am” poem.

I Am Poem Outline First Stanza I am (2 special characteristics you have) I wonder (something of curiosity) I hear (an imaginary sound) I want (an actual desire) I am (the first line of the poem repeated)

I Am Poem Outline Second Stanza: I pretend (something you actually pretend to do) I feel (a feeling about something imaginary) I touch (an imaginary touch) I worry (something that bothers you) I cry (something that makes you sad) I am (the first line of the poem repeated)

I Am Poem Outline Third Stanza: I understand (something that is true) I say (something you believe in) I dream (something you dream about) I try (something you make an effort for) I hope (something you actually hope for) I am (the first line repeated)

Bell-Ringer 3/20 Create a list of all of your favorite things. Include: color, book, movie, actress/actor, song, TV Show, ice cream, hobby, game, sport, vacation, food, season, candy, pet, etc.

Step 3: Find an actress/actor, singer, or character that best represents yourself and explain why. Justify why and how they are like you.

Bell-Ringer 3/21 Analyze the following quote: “You can’t start the next chapter of your life, if you keep re-reading the last one.” What does it mean? Do you agree or disagree? Why or why not?

Step 4: Add photos from your childhood, and symbols that best represent you. Justify your picture choice. Justify why and how your symbols represent you. If you do not have an iPad, you may draw or describe your symbols.

Bell-Ringer 5/22 What are your plans for the future, and what do you see yourself doing in ten years?

Final Product Using all of your bell-ringers and tasks from this week, create an autobiography. You may organize it however you see fit. Be sure to include: a table of contents, and a dedication page.

Before you turn it in, ask yourself: Does the order of my story make sense? How are the paragraphs? Are all ideas about one subject/event grouped together? Does my autobiography make sense? Did I proof-read?
