Poetry Analysis (TPCASTT) Title: Before reading the poem, what does the title signify? Paraphrase: Translate the poem in your own words. Connotation: Contemplate the poem beyond the literal meaning. Attitude: Observe the speaker’s and the poet’s tone. Shifts: Note shifts in speakers and tones. Title: Examine the title again on an interpretive level. Theme: Determine the insight about life or human nature which gives the poem meaning. In your notes, analyze “anyone lived in a pretty how town ” on page 891.

Homework Read Chapters 7-9. There will be an open-ended essay test on the novel next class. It will graded according to the A.P. rubric.
