Blacktop Games Treasures Grade 1 Unit 3 Have Fun! Created by Marjorie S. Smith Grade One Shipleys Choice Elementary

Introduction Many of our classmates do not know what to play during blacktop recess. First graders run in every direction. Often they run into each other and get hurt. Some run through games that others are trying to play. This is a problem that we must solve before someone is seriously hurt. > Task > Process > Eval > Citations

Task It is your mission to seek and find games that can be played SAFELY on our blacktop. Not much equipment should be needed. A small group of children should play it. You must share the blacktop with others. You will research a game, alone or with a partner, and teach the game using a poster, brochure, or book you have written. < Intro > Process > Eval > Citations

Process Step 1 First you will research games that can be played during blacktop recess. Step 2 Next you will pick one of these games to teach a small group of your classmates. Step 3 Then you will create a poster, brochure or book explaining how to play the game. You will include the name of the game, the equipment needed, the rules and scoring.
