FATHERLESS CHILDREN SUFFERING INSIDE AND OUT BY SEMAJE GORDON ENG 1060 DR. DAVID MARQUARD JUNE 29, 2014

THE ARGUMENT The topic for this argument is the effects of children growing up without a biological father. The three effects discussed are social problems, behavioral problems, and psychological problems.

THESIS The purpose of this paper is to explain the most common effects of children growing up without biological father. The effects are social problems, behavioral problems, and psychological problems.

RESEARCH METHODLOGY The research gathered for this paper and annotated bibliography was secondary research. A lot of scholarly journals and a few websites were used in order to have all credible sources.

REASON BREAKDOWN 1. Social Problems According to research the most common social problems are poverty, high school dropouts, and teen pregnancy. 2. Behavioral Problems According to research the most common behavioral problems are juvenile delinquency such as minor property crime, substance abuse, and interpersonal violence. 3. Psychological Problems According to research the most common psychological problems are depression and anxiety.

SOLUTION A solution offered to children suffering from father absence is counseling. Whether it be individual counseling or family counseling as a whole both can be a coping mechanism for the children and even the mother. The method taken is normally up to the mother but if the child is old enough to decide what they feel is more comfortable their decision may be taken into account.
