Welcome to Two Bridges Two Bridges is a 172-bed direct supervision correctional facility located in Wiscasset, Maine. It is the only regional jail in Maine, and the first regional jail to be built north of Virginia. The mission of the Two Bridges Regional Jail is to protect the public; to provide a safe, secure, and professional environment which embraces direct supervision principles in the management of detainees; and, through role-modeling and programs, to equip detainees with the means to live a productive and law-abiding lifestyle.

The Public Lobby Reception Area

Please have a seat while you’re waiting.

Vehicle Sallyport: All arrestees are brought into the jail by the arresting officer through the vehicle sallyport.

A single cell.

A double-bunked cell.

1 of 2 Male General Population Housing Unit. Inmates eat and recreate in their own housing unit; phones (by the stairs) are available for use whenever they are out in the day room. The housing officer is inside the unit with the inmates at all times.

The Female Housing Unit. There are two cells within the self-contained unit for female maximum or segregation.

Male Minimum Housing Unit This unit is dormitory style living with regular clothes washing facilities. These inmates are generally out during the day working in the facility or on a work program.

Special Management Unit The Special Management Unit has it’s own Control Center, 4-man Maximum Security Unit, 4-man Admin/Discipline Unit, and an 8-man Stabilization Unit.

The Stabilization Unit The Stabilization Unit. Inmates here are closely monitored until they are able to return to a regular housing unit.

Each housing unit has its own recreation yard.

There is an indoor multi-purpose room which can be used in inclement weather or for larger group events.

Meals are prepared in the kitchen and brought to the housing units by inmate workers.

Central Control The Officer in Central Control monitors all three major hallways, as well as the lobby and outdoor surveillance. Using state-of-the-art jail management systems, the Officer controls all movement in the facility.

You can’t see the Officer inside the control room, but he will open the door for you just as you reach it.

The central hallway contains classrooms, program space, library, computer lab, and indoor recreation. Two large housing units are at the end of the hall.

Programs Classroom Two Bridges Regional Jail provides a variety of programs available to inmates including drug dependency programs, creative art and painting, parenting, career explorations, mental health coping skills, self concept/self esteem, HIV/AIDS education and bible study groups. There are also classes for GED, College Prep and Adult Basic Education. Additional programs offered include crochet, sewing, nutrition, anger management, AA and Narcotics Anonymous among others.

Computer Lab The Computer Lab has classes for keyboarding and various office applications. Through an agreement with Wiscasset School System, TBRJ is able to offer the PLATO Learning Lab. PLATO allows offenders to work toward and receive a regular high school diploma.

Library TBRJ’s Library is well stocked with legal reference material as well as a very good selection of current recreational reading items.

Commissary The Commissary is the “jail store” where the inmates can purchase goodies and hygiene items not provided by the jail.

Crochet and Sewing Classes The crochet and sewing programs make hats, scarves, mittens, afghans and small toys to donate to the Barbara Bush Hospital and other local charities.

Wood Shop Inmates are paid an hourly wage out of which deductions are taken for fines and restitution and room and board; the balance goes into the inmate’s account.

Large doll house made in the Wood Shop that was raffled for charity Large doll house made in the Wood Shop that was raffled for charity. Great effort and detail went into this project.
