Internationalization Requirements Increase bio-demographics fields Increase currency amount and rate fields Move to Oracle AL32UTF8 database

Banner Internationalization Bio Demographics These fields have been expanded in the database tables First_Name60 MI60 Legal_Name500 Street_Line175 Street_Line275 Street_Line375 City50 Zip30 Phone_Area6 Phone_Number12 Phone_Ext10 _Address128 SSN15 House Number10 Street Line 475 County Code for Phone4 Surname Prefix60 These fields have been added in the databases

Banner Internationalization Currency Currency amount fields have been expanded to (17,2). General and Finance Only The currency fields in AR, Financial Aid, HR and Student will not be changed. Advancement currency fields will not be changed with the exception of column, AFRCORG_GOAL, which will be expanded to (17,2). Rate amount fields have been expanded to 7 decimal places. (17,7) General Only

Banner Internationalization Forms IDEN forms will be modified First Name, Middle Name display will be lengthened Tooltip feature added

Banner Internationalization Oracle Database will need to be UTF-8 enabled Semantics of database need to be changed from BYTE to CHAR (NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS = CHAR) This will necessitate a re-install of the database Two methods expdb/impdp csscan/csaltr Pro*C utilizes ICU (International Component for Unicode). ICU are C/C++ libraries used for Unicode and Globalization support for application software. Developed by IBM.

Banner 8 Upgrade Software upgrades Install Oracle Enterprise Edition Upgrade your application server to Upgrade your Oracle Forms toolset to Install ICU (International Components for Unicode) release 3.6 on your job submission server

Banner 8 Upgrade Database upgrade Create empty database nls_length_semantics=BYTE Change nls_length_semantics=CHAR csalter or impdp data into new database Forms Set nls_length_semantics=CHAR prior to compiling forms nls_lang setting needs to be consistent on application server and database server ex: nls_lang=american_america.alu32utf8
