4 May I/O Control

4 May What is I/O Control? A Doors feature that allows you to program input events to drive output responses – for example: –An input connected to a glass-break detector can be linked to an output connected to an alarm –This means a broken window will sound an alarm

4 May Dedicated I/O Points Certain inputs are automatically dedicated to specific output functions and are not freely programmable – for example: –The Request to Exit (RTE) input drives the door lock output –The door switch input drives the door alarm output

4 May Selectively Dedicated I/O Certain inputs can be selectively dedicated to specific outputs if so desired – for example: –The secondary RTE input can be assigned to also drive the door lock output

4 May Additional I/O Points An SB-593 Satellite board is required to perform any additional programmable I/O operations –The Satellite board provides the additional inputs and outputs needed for programming

4 May Manual Output Control Manual output control allows you to use Doors to select an output from a list and then turn that output On or Off

4 May I/O Control is a Two-Part Process 1.Input/output configuration –Indicate if inputs or outputs are dedicated –Define inputs as normally-open or normally- closed –Assign names 2.Link configuration –Assign inputs to outputs –Define how the outputs respond to input events

4 May Dedicated I/O Reminder The first time you click on the Doors tab during any session, a reminder appears for making the dedicated I/O assignments before making any general I/O control assignments –Ensures dedicated I/O links are protected from improper assignments

4 May Open the I/O Configuration Window Click the button or Select the Setup > System pull-down menu Click the I/O Config tab to open the configuration window

4 May Select Controller Use the pull-down list to locate the controller for which inputs and outputs should be defined

4 May System Dedicated I/O Points System-defined I/O points are grayed out –These are automatically assigned by Doors for specific functions, i.e. Door switch Door lock RTE Alarm output

4 May Assignable Dedicated I/O Points Individual I/O points that can be dedicated to additional functions are identified with Doors defined names, i.e. –DoorB AUX RTE –DoorA DHO alarm out

4 May Assign Dedicated I/O Click in the appropriate Dedicated Y/N check box to make the additional assignments, i.e. –Auxiliary RTE for Door B - Input –Door Held Open for Door A - Output

4 May Save I/O Changes Click the button –If you close the I/O configuration window without saving, your changes are lost and must be reentered

4 May Input Name Assignment Assign a descriptive name to the selected input, i.e. –Glass-Break Sensor Do not duplicate names or descriptions to prevent confusion when printing reports

4 May Select Input State Click on the Mode N/O N/C radio buttons according to whether the input is normally-open or normally- closed

4 May Output Name Assignment Assign a descriptive name to the selected output, i.e. –Glass-Break Alarm

4 May Save Changes Click the button –If you close the I/O configuration window without saving, your changes are lost and must be reentered

4 May Save Changes Reminder If you forget to save the changes, a reminder appears when you attempt to exit the I/O Config window Click the button

4 May Open the Link Configuration Window Click the button or Select the Setup > System pull-down menu Click the Link Config tab to open the configuration window

4 May Select Controller Use the pull-down list to select the controller for which the input to output link should be defined –This can only be a controller with an SB-593 Satellite board

4 May System Dedicated I/O Links System-defined I/O link points are grayed out –These are automatically assigned by Doors for specific functions

4 May Link Name Assignment Assign a descriptive name to the selected input to output link, i.e. –Glass-Break Monitor

4 May Select the Input Select the input to be assigned in this link

4 May Multiple Input Links Multiple inputs can be applied to a link –Select all inputs to apply

4 May Multiple Input Processing Multiple inputs are processed using Boolean logic Select OR or AND depending upon how the output should be driven –OR triggers the output if ANY input generates a signal (input 1 OR input 2 OR input 3, etc.) –AND triggers the output if ALL inputs generate a signal (input 1 AND input 2 AND input 3, etc.)

4 May Set Output Mode Set the output mode for the link – this defines how the output should react when enabled –N – Normal to drive the output to its at rest state –A – Active to drive the output to its active state

4 May Set the Time Zone Select the time zone during which this link will be active –For the I/O link to be made, the input must change state during the time zone period - Input changes made outside of this time zone will not generate the link to the output –If the Input is already active when the time zone begins, the link to the output will not occur

4 May Output versus Event Message An I/O link can be directed to generate an output event message instead of driving an output relay –Click on Enable Outputs to have the input drive the output relay –Click on Event Messages Only to have the input generate an event message

4 May Link Sounds Alert An I/O link can be directed to sound an alert when active –Sound Alerts must be enabled using the Setup > Monitor and Events > Access Messages pull-down menu option –The system must be in monitor mode and the controller must be online for alerts to be annunciated –The Windows™ exclamation WAV file is the sound that plays Click on the Link Sounds Alert box to enable this feature

4 May Output Drive Type There are three output drive options: –Timed – stays active for a defined amount of time When a timed link is triggered by an event, the timer must expire before a new timed link can be triggered (the timed link does not reset if there are rapidly occurring, multiple events) –Follow – follows the state of the input, when the input is active, the output is active –Latched – stays active until manually inactivated Either by another link or via manual output control commands (described later in this presentation)

4 May Timed Output Click on the Timed radio button to enable this option Enter the desired relay active time in seconds

4 May Follow Output Click on the Follow radio button to enable this option

4 May Latched Output Click on the Latched radio button to enable this option

4 May Save Link Changes Click the button –If you close the link configuration window without saving, your changes are lost and must be reentered

4 May Manual Output Control Allows you to remotely activate a controller’s output, controlling an external device Possible examples: –Remote lighting –Siren –Remote gate

4 May Open the Output Control Window Use the Operate > Output Control pull- down menu option
