PNM (Potential New Member) – Your Daughter! Rho Gamma – The women who are recruitment counselors guiding your daughter through the process. Priority Preference – Process used for selection Fraternity/Sorority – Women’s fraternities are commonly referred to as sororities.

National Panhellenic Conference – The umbrella organization for 26 (inter)national sororities Active – An initiated member of a chapter Sister – What actives refer to each other as Philanthropy – The act of donating to a person’s/group’s values

General Fraternities and Sororities were established in the eighteenth century and are commonly called “social” fraternities/sororities. Other fraternities are honor societies, and not joined through mutual selection. Fraternities & Sororities have been recognized at TCU since Our organizations are formed with the goals of contributing to the collegiate development of members Focus on academics Promote community service and philanthropy

o PNM Orientation: Tomorrow morning 9:00am in the DMC o Scholarship Round: Sunday, August 11 th, 2013 at 1:00 pm o Scholarship Round, Part 2: Monday, August 12 th, 2013 at 8:45 am o Service Round: Tuesday, August 13 th, 2013 at 7:45 am o Leadership Round: Wednesday, August 14 th, 2013 at 7:45am o Sisterhood Round: Thursday, August 15 th, 2013 at 8:45 am o Bid Day: Friday, August 16 th, 2013 at 4:00pm

PNM must attend the maximum number of events she is invited to attend. Any PNM who misses an event without an excuse is removed from the recruitment process and may not continue. The number of chapters a PNM may visit each day gets smaller while the length of each event gets longer. This enables both the PNMs and the chapters to make informed decisions when it comes to selection. The theme of the events becomes more serious as the week goes on. By preference, the chapters will be demonstrating traits important to their sisterhood. If a PNM does not have a full schedule, she will have a “break round” where she will relax while waiting for her next event. Not every PNM will have a full schedule, in fact most will not have a full schedule.

o Your daughter will come to the DMC every morning and should arrive on time! o Each day, women will find out which chapters they will be visiting and then go with Rho Gammas to the chapters. o At the end of the day, they will return to the DMC and complete the priority preference process.

o Food, water, shelter o Your daughter will receive a small plastic bag for personal items, NO CELL PHONES o Rho Gammas will have supplies! o Your daughter may be removed from recruitment due to use of alcohol or other code of conduct violations.

o Nicole DiNatale, VP of Finance and Administration o Consists of conflicts such as; Show Girls, Sports Teams, Orientation, Band, School, etc…. o If your daughter needs a special schedule, how do I arrange this?

o Round one, PNMs will visit all 12 chapters over the course of two days o Round Two, PNMs will visit up to 9 chapters o Round Three, PNMs will visit up to 6 chapters o Round Four, PNMs will visit up to 3 chapters o Priority preference is the process we will use each day to indicate selections. PNMs will have an opportunity to “cluster” the chapters they visited that day.

o Violations of Panhellenic bylaws, Code of Ethics or NPC Unanimous Agreements o PNMs can report information anonymously. o Rho Gammas will have the forms.

After Preference Round, PNMs complete the Membership Recruitment Acceptance Binding Agreement (MRABA). When PNMs sign the MRABA the Fraternity and Sorority Life staff will go over all of the instructions. Main points that must be understood: Changes cannot be made once the card is submitted PNMs must be willing to accept a bid from any of the chapters they list on their MRABA card. If a PNM is matched to a chapter during this process, she is bound for a calendar year. Meaning, if she depledges or drops the organization, she cannot pledge another TCU Panhellenic sorority until August If and ONLY if a PNM is unmatched during bid matching or withdraws PRIOR to signing her MRABA is she eligible to pledge a TCU Panhellenic sorority during the school year. We encourage PNMs to list each chapter they attended on Preference because we want as many women to be placed in chapters as possible.

Main points that must be understood: TCU guarantees a bid to a PNM if A PNM lists ALL of the chapters she attended on Preference Attended every event where she was invited throughout recruitment week PNMs do not have to list each chapter they attended during Preference Round; however, TCU does not guarantee a bid to a PNM unless she lists ALL of the chapters she visited.

o Recruitment is a mutual selection process. o Most people will not have a full schedule after day 1. o Each year, a small number of women have been released from the process. o For women who attend preference parties and maximize their options, TCU will guarantee a bid.

PNMs will report to the BLUU at 3:45pm Rho Gammas will reveal their affiliation PNMs will open their bid cards and join representatives from their sorority Activities begin at 4:00pm Alcohol free Parents can meet at the BLUU Auditorium to observe Bid Day

Panhellenic T-shirt with casual shorts such as denim, black or khaki & a pair of casual, comfortable shoes.

Casual outfits. Shorts and a top are most appropriate for such a long day. Pair with comfortable flats.

Nice dress or a skirt. Flats or comfortable heels are appropriate.

Cocktail dresses are suggested. We do NOT recommend formal or prom dresses.

A plain, white T-shirt with comfortable bottoms and shoes. You’ll be receiving your new sorority shirt after you open your bid card!

 Some chapters MIGHT informally recruit members throughout the fall and spring – this is not a guarantee and we will not know which chapters will host fall/spring recruitment until September or January  On average 2-3 organizations will participate in spring recruitment but it varies from year to year; nothing is guaranteed in the spring.  Invitations to informal events are at the individual organization’s discretion.

Encourage your daughter to keep an open mind. Do not pressure her to join your organization or the organization you think is the “best”. If her favorite chapter is not on her schedule, encourage her to attend the events, she can withdraw at any time. Nothing is binding until she signs the MRABA. There are MANY other ways to be involved on campus. Help encourage her to find her niche at TCU.
