Transmitting Modes of ELQ 30A ELQ 30A provides three transmitting modes: ■ 1 FREQ (Transmitting of one single frequency ) ■ MTTS (Transmitting 30 to 35 frequencies simultaneously) ■ WHITE NOISE (Transmitting white noise) 1 FREQ mode ■ ■ Range: 200 Hz to 30 MHz ■ ■ Resolution: 1 Hz ELEKTR NIKA MTTS mode Selectable ranges: WHITE NOISE mode Frequency range: up to 30 MHz

Receiving Modes of ELQ 30A ELEKTR NIKA ELQ 30A provides three receiving modes: ■ 1 FREQ (Measuring of one single frequency ) ■ MTTS (Measuring 30 to 35 frequencies simultaneously) ■ WIDE EBAND (Wide band measurement with selectable filters) 1 FREQ mode ■ ■ Range: 200 Hz to 30 MHz ■ ■ Resolution: 1 Hz Selectable bandwidths: MTTS mode Selectable ranges: WIDE BAND mode Selectable filters:

Spectrum Analyser Measurement Spectrum analyser of ELQ 30A is intended to: ■ Noise Spectrum Measurement on Passive Lines ■ PSD Spectrum Measurement on Working Lines In this case the test instrument should be connected parallel to the line with high impedance. The digital systems are extremely sensitive for the capacitive load therefore the regular measuring cables can not be used. For line connection an optional active probe is provided: ELEKTR NIKA Selectable ranges: Selectable evaluation modes: ■ Normal ■ Slipping average (Average of the last 10 measurements) ■ Average ■ Peek

Wideband Noise Measurement The impairment of communication caused by noises does not depend only on the level but also on the time distribution of noise. The proper measuring time depends on the nature of noise. In case of a quasi stationer noise 1 to 10 sec is enough. If the noise level is slowly changing, a longer measurement time provides the proper test result. When the selected measuring time >1 min then ELQ 30A displays the noise level in histogram ELEKTR NIKA Selectable filters: Selected duration

Impulse Noise Measurement Impulse noise is a non-stationary cross talk from electromagnetic events in the vicinity of phone lines. Any burst of noise that produces a voltage exceeding the power level of the background noise by more than 12dB is declared impulse noise. An impulse is counted when the received signal exceeds a preset threshold for more than 500 ns. When the selected measuring time >30 sec then ELQ 30A displays the noise level in histogram ELEKTR NIKA Selected duration

Near End Crosstalk (NEXT) Measurement ELQ 30A provides two NEXT measuring modes: ■ Measurement at one single frequency ■ Measurement in sweep mode ELEKTR NIKA Selectable ranges:

Micro Interruption Measurement (Loop Back Mode) Micro interruption measurement can be performed with one ELQ 30A in loop back mode transmitting 1020 Hz test tone on connector L2 and receiving on connector L1 ELQ 30A detects the micro interruptions according to rec. ITU-T O.62. An interruption is detected when the level of the received test tone drops below a designated threshold for more than 0.6 ms. Short form information The measuring time is adjustable between 5 min and 72 hours. ELEKTR NIKA Histogram List

Single Ended Loss Estimation ELQ 30A provides insertion loss estimation using a special FDR/TDR combination without any far end device. Single ended loss measurement can be performed if: ■ The tested loop is open ■ There is a strap on the far end of the tested pair ■ A telephone hand set is connected to the far end ELEKTR NIKA Selectable ranges:

Echo Test There are several reasons for the undesirable quality degradation and the appearance of audible echoes is one of them. This kind of quality degradation is inherent in the network equipment and the end user phone devices. For the test of the disturbing echoes ELQ 30A transmits short ~1020 Hz signal packets with proper amplitude shaping and measures the amplitude and the traveling time of the reflected signal. Measuring ranges ■ Traveling time range: 15 to ms ■ Time resolution: 5 ms ■ Amplitude indication: down to -60 dBm Time [s] ELEKTR NIKA ELQ 30A

Impedance Measurement ELQ 30A provides impedance measurement without any external adapter Two impedance measuring modes are available: ■ Measurement at one single frequency ■ Measurement in sweep mode ELEKTR NIKA Frequency ranges: Impedance display range: ■ up to 20 kHz: 2000 Ohm ■ over 20kHz: 600 Ohm

Return Loss Measurement ELQ 30A provides return loss measurement without any external adapter Two return loss measuring modes are available: ■ Measurement at one single frequency ■ Measurement in sweep mode Return loss factor indicates the deviation of line impedance from the nominal value. ELQ 30A compares the line impedance to an internal Rn normal resistor. ELEKTR NIKA Frequency ranges:

Balance (LCL) Measurement ELQ 30A provides LCL measurement without any external adapter using the test circuit described in ITU-T Rec. 0.9 ELEKTR NIKA Frequency ranges: Two balance measuring modes are provided: ■ Measurement with one single frequency ■ Measurement in sweep mode
