CRAB THEORY OPPRESSION WITHIN THE DEAF COMMUNITY CRAB THEORY OPPRESSION WITHIN THE DEAF COMMUNITY OUR STRENGTHS HOW CAN WE GROW OUR WEAKNESS WITH OR WITHOUT YOU

CRABTHEORY OPPRESSION WITHIN THE COMMUNITY First, the minorities will prevent members of their communities from succeeding through education, jobs, or the accumulation of wealth and/or honors. Should a member of a minority group succeed above all the others, those who are left in the bucket will mock, criticize, and all but disown the members that make it out of the bucket.

Deaf oppress deaf Samples: whether or not one is "deaf enough” Use of assistive technology eg Cochlear Implants Oral deaf Mainstreamed deaf being "hearing-minded" which means to be the 'other’ Deaf roots Oppression in the deaf community is multifaceted much like oppression of any other minority group.

Education Deaf Schools closing? – Mainstream education – Isolation/identity – Technology Further Limited interpreter funding Barriers in workplace Glass ceiling in career Attitude of society Over the world Deaf Clubs are closing Deaf avoiding Deaf community Will Deaf Community become extinct?
