AADMER : PART VIII ASEAN CO-ORDINATING CENTRE FOR HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE ARTICLE 20. ASEAN CO-ORDINATING CENTRE FOR HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE 1. The ASEAN Co-ordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (AHA Centre) shall be established for the purpose of facilitating co-operation and co-ordination among the Parties, and with relevant United Nations and International organizations, in promoting regional collaboration. 2. The AHA Centre shall work on the basis that the Party will act first to manage and response to disaster. In the event that the party requires assistance to cope with such a situation, in addition to direct request to any Assisting Entity, it may seek assistance from the AHA Centre to facilitate such request. 3. The AHA Centre shall carry out the function as set out in ANNEX and any other functions as directed by the Conference of the Parties.

OCTOBER 2007: INTERIM AHA CENTRE WAS OPERATIONALISED AT BAKORNAS PB, PARTICIPATED IN ARDEX-07/SINGAPORE. 10th ACDM MEETING/SINGAPORE OCT.07 NOTED THE PROGRESS OF THE INTERIM AHA CENTRE AND CONGRATULATED INDONESIA. LESSON LEARNED: TO VALIDATE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE START-UP FACILITIES OF INTERIM AHA CENTRE

THE 12th ACDM MEETING ON 29TH AUGUST 2008 DECIDED TO EXTEND THE SERVICE OF THE INTERIM AHA CENTRE BEYOND DECEMBER 2008, PARTICULARLY WHEN THE RATIFICATION PROCESS BY ALL AMS COULD ONLY BE COMPLETED AFTER DECEMBER 2008.
