ESC Campaign –Working Group Test Ride

ESC Test ride + optional self driving Black Lake – Test Drive’s 300m 30m Bus shuttle ESC Test ride + optional self driving NHSTA-Test 300m ESC Test ride Test car flow Tent

ESC Testing Manoeuvres Sudden Obstacle (also for self driving) NHTSA Test – Sine with Dwell For ESC-manoeuvre presentation @ VIP Drive: Slalom (ESC vehicle with visualisation lamps to show braking interventions)

ESC Testing Manoeuvre: Sudden obstacle Sudden obstacle: The light truck in front of the red vehicle lost a box. To avoid a crash, the driver has to steer abruptly. Real situation Manoeuvre Advantage of this manoeuvre: Very common real situation (broken truck tires, lost load, …) lower effort with pylons (time issue) in case of self driving, easier to do

ESC Testing Manoeuvre: NHTSA Test – Sine with Dwell Recommendation to take the test for Europe as well, e.g. Euro NCAP, … High repeatability with using a steering robot No questions about driver influences Test ok Spinout Criteria Responsiveness Criteria steering robot

ESC demonstration Manoeuvre: Slalom Slalom: Running of the road and the driver reacts with abrupt steering. Slalom (one test vehicle, only with ESC) Visualization via lamp concept and inside display with sound.

Equipment for Preparation Black Lake White adhesive tape to give visitors the impression of a road. Speed Displays to show the actual speed while entering the manoeuvre. Soft pylons for the manoeuvre. Standard pylons for the barriers.
