 Geography is the study of where things are located on Earth’s surface and the why (the reasons) for that location.  Asks where? and why?  Where are people’s activities located across Earth’s surface?  Why are they located in particular places?  Greek scholar Eratosthenes invented to the term “geography.”  “Geo” means Earth; and  “Graph” means to write. GEOGRAPHY

Geographer  Ask where? and why?  Organize material spatially  Recognize that an action at one point on Earth can result from something happening at another point, which can consequently affect conditions elsewhere Historian  Ask when? and why?  Organize material chronologically  Recognize that an action at one point in time can result from past actions that can in turn affect future ones GEOGRAPHER
