Physical Properties  When Uranium is exposed to air it gets covered in a oxide film  Uranium is a poor conductor  Uranium can hold heat 3.3 times better than copper

Chemical Properties  Uranium can combine with oxygen, sulfur, chlorine, fluorine, phosphorus, and bromine.  It dissolves in acids and reacts with water  Some uranium compounds can turn a yellowish or greenish color

Uses  To make bombs  X-rays  Glow-in-the-Dark paint

History In 1789 uranium was discovered by Martin Klaproth. In 1896 radioactivity was discovered in uranium. In 1938 Otto Hahn and Fritz Straussman discovered nuclear fission and uranium was considered an extremely important element. A couple of years later uranium was used to make atomic bombs, and the production of nuclear electrical power.

Uranium parts  Allotropes: alpha, beta, gamma  Isotopes: 6  Important Compounds: uranium hexafloride

Other Interesting Facts  Uranium was discovered while Martin Klaproth was studying the ore pitchblende.
