Beatitudes

Happiness Is Loving God Doing what pleases God Helping others Suffering for what is right Forgiving others Bringing peace Accepting sorrows Being satisfied

1. Beatitudes- are a code for happiness, given to us by Jesus. Code- are rules governing behavior. 2. Jesus taught us to live in hope and love. 3. If we live in hope and love we will be happy with God in heaven forever. 4. Jesus was happy on earth because he loved God, and always did what pleased his father.

6. Jesus was happy in loving others. Jesus was glad to: forgave others 5. Happiness is found doing two things: a. Loving God b. Doing what pleases God. 6. Jesus was happy in loving others. Jesus was glad to: forgave others healing or curing others helped others gave them peace

The 8 Beatitudes Happy are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of God. Happy are they who mourn, for they will be comforted. Happy are the meek, for they will be inherit land. Happy are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.

Poor in spirit: people are poor in spirit when they: 1st Beatitude- Happy are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of God. Poor in spirit: people are poor in spirit when they: Satisfied with what they have. Are grateful for it. Share it with others. 2. Being poor in spirit is different from actually being poor.

- we are poor in spirit when we realize that we are all poor before God. only God can make us truly happy. the poor in spirit think of God as their treasure. 3. People who are poor in spirit remember that everything they have comes from God. 4. People who are poor in spirit are not selfish. 5. If we try to be poor in spirit, we will receive the reward Jesus promised.

the kingdom of God. the poor in spirit will be rich with God’s life and happiness forever in heaven.

St. Francis (God’s poor man). St. Francis belonged to a rich family. St. Francis gave his clothes to a poor man he saw. He exchanged his clothes because he felt sorry for the poor man. St. Francis felt happy when he exchanged clothes because he felt more like Jesus.

3. He became more like Jesus by giving us his riches. 4. He did not miss his riches because: He loved God above all things. He saw God’s love and care in everything around him. 5. He shared with the hungry, poor, and sad people.
