Crown Him with many Crowns

Crown Him with many crowns, the Lamb upon His throne; Hark! How the heavenly anthem drowns all music but it’s own: Awake my soul and sing, of Him who died for thee All hail Him as thy matchless King through all eternity. 1/5

Crown Him the Son of God before the worlds began; And ye, who tread where He hath trod, Crown Him the Son of Man: Who every grief hath known, that wrings the human breast, And take and bears them for His own, that all in Him may rest.2/5

Crown Him the Lord of Love; behold His hands and side, Those wounds yet visible above, in beauty glorified. All hail Redeemer, hail! For Thou hast died for me; Thy praise shall never never fail throughout eternity. 3/5

Crown Him the Lord of Life, who triumphed o’er the grave, And rose victorious in the strife, for those He came to save. His glories now we sing, who died and rose on high, Who died eternal life to bring, and lives that death may die. 4/5

Crown Him the Lord of heaven, enthroned in worlds above; Crown Him the King to whom is given the wondrous name of love: Crown Him with many crowns, as thrones before Him fall, Crown Him ye kings with many crowns, for He is King of all.5/5

Confession: P. Friends in Christ: Let us confess our sins to God our Father and ask him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to forgive us…..

C: We confess that we are born in bondage to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have failed to do.

We have not loved you with our whole heart, and we have not loved our neighbour as ourselves. We deserve your eternal punishment. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us. Amen.

The Psalm of the Day Psalm 1 P:Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, C: but whose delight is in the law of the L ORD, and who meditates on his law day and night.

The Psalm of the Day P: That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither - whatever they do prospers. C:Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away.

The Psalm of the Day P: Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. C: For the L ORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.

The Psalm of the Day C.Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever-more. Amen.

Greeting P: The Lord be with you. C: And also with you.

The Prayer of the Day (Let us pray for the unity of the Holy Spirit)

Holy Father, your Son prayed for his disciples that they would be one, as you and he are one. Keep your whole church harmoniously together in faith and love, united by the one Spirit. Amen.

After the Reading: L: This is the Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God. (Matthias chosen to replace Judas)

Second Reading: 1 John 5: 9-13 (God’s testimony about his Son) After the Reading: L: This is the Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God.

Gospel Reading: John 17: 6-19 L: This is the Gospel of our risen Lord P: Praise be to you, O Christ. (Jesus prays for his disciples) - Congregation stands -

The Apostle’s Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell.

The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God, the Father almighty, from thence he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

CHILDREN’S TIME

To God be the glory, great things he has done! So loved he the world that he gave us his Son, Who yielded his life an atonement for sin, And opened the life-gate that all may go in!

Praise the Lord! Let the earth hear his voice! Praise the Lord! Let the people rejoice! O come to the Father, through Jesus the Son, And give him the glory, great things he has done!

O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood, To every believer the promise of God! And every offender who truly believes, That moment from Jesus a pardon receives:

Praise the Lord! Let the earth hear his voice! Praise the Lord! Let the people rejoice! O come to the Father, through Jesus the Son, And give him the glory, great things he has done!

Great things he has taught us, great things he has done, And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son; But purer, and higher, and greater will be Our wonder, our rapture, when Jesus we see:

Praise the Lord! Let the earth hear his voice! Praise the Lord! Let the people rejoice! O come to the Father, through Jesus the Son, And give him the glory, great things he has done!

SERMON

During this next song, your offering for the work of the Lord will be received

Prayer of the Church

PRAYER OF THE CHURCH Lord Jesus, you said, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." Keep us from being preoccupied with money and worldly goods, and with trying to increase them at the expense of justice.

Lord Jesus, you said, "Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth." Help us not to be ruthless with one another, and to eliminate the discord and violence that exists in the world around us. Lord Jesus, you said, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." Let us not be impatient under our own burdens and unconcerned about the burdens of others.

Lord Jesus, you said, "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they shall be filled." Make us thirst for you, the fountain of all holiness, and actively spread your influence in our private lives and in society. Lord Jesus, you said, "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy." Grant that we may be quick to forgive and slow to condemn.

Lord Jesus, you said, "Blessed are the clean of heart, for they shall see God." Free us from our senses and our evil desires, and help us to fix our eyes on you. Lord Jesus, you said, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God." Help us to make peace in our families, in our country, and in the world.

Lord Jesus, you said, "Blessed are those who are persecuted for the sake of justice, for the kingdom of heaven in theirs." Make us willing to suffer for the sake of right rather than to practice injustice; and do not let us discriminate against our neighbours and oppress and persecute them. AMEN

Silen SILENT REFLECTION

Holy Communion P: The Lord be with you C: And also with you. P: Lift up your hearts. C: We lift them to the Lord. P: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. C: It is right to give our thanks and praise.

Holy Communion It is indeed right and good, Lord God, holy Father, that we should at all times and in all places give thanks to you, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Holy Communion But most of all we praise you for the glorious resurrection of your Son, the true Passover Lamb, who has taken away the sin of the world. By his death he has destroyed death, and by his rising again he has restored life.

Holy Communion And so, with Mary Magdalene and Peter and all the other witnesses of the resurrection, with earth and sea and all their creatures, and with angels and archangels, cherubim and seraphim, we adore and praise your glorious name:

Holy Communion C: Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen.

w Holy Communion Words of Institution

Holy Communion P: Jesus says: ‘When I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to me.’ C: Thanks be to God

Prayer after Holy Communion P: Heavenly Father, you gave your Son to die and raised him to give us eternal life.Grant that we who have received his body and blood may live in him and serve you as your children. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
