ROOM DEPOSIT The room deposit is a flat fee of $ (for a single or double). This is due by Monday April 20, To make your payment: Log-on to Select Housing Deposit Returning Students. OR go to the Cashier’s Office to Make a Payment There is a fee to use a credit card for payment, but no fee if you use your checking or savings account. The room deposit fee is non-refundable and rolls into room and board costs.
THE LOTTERY PROCESS The process is done by lottery number which is based on accumulated credits (class rank) Lottery lists are randomly generated by a computer program Lottery lists will be posted on the Residential Life myUSJ page.
INFORMATION FOR ROOM SELECTION All rooms on campus are double rooms with a small amount of single rooms throughout the residence halls If you do not have someone selected as a roommate, there will be a roommate mixer organized by the RA staff on April 8 th. If you do not have a roommate you may pick a room and the next single person will be assigned the other open bed. You could also receive a roommate during the summer when new students and transfer students are housed. You must print both sides and complete the entire Housing Application and select a meal plan. You are required to bring the Housing Application with you the day of Room Selection.
MEAL PLAN OPTIONS The Dining hall offers 19 total meals each week: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Monday – Friday Brunch and Dinner Saturday and Sunday Each plan comes with a certain amount of Dining Dollars that can be used in the Jay’s Nest and for guests like a debit account 10 Meal Plan: only an option for seniors and juniors (54+ credits). That allows a student 10 meals/week and $ in dining dollars 15 Meal Plan: allows a student 15 meals/ week and $ in dining dollars. 19 Meal Plan: allows a student 19 meals/week and $50.00 in dining dollars. If a student requires a Meal Plan Exemption– they must fill out the meal plan exemption form with Disability Services. Medical Documentation is required with all exemption forms. This is due no later than August 1, 2015 for all returning students.

NORTH AND SOUTH RESIDENCE HALLS You must be of current junior status (you must have 54+ credits by opening Fall 2015) to choose a room in North and South Hall Two individuals must pick a room together (all rooms are double occupancy). If you do not have a roommate you may pick a room and the next single person will be assigned to the other open bed. Each 1 st floor wing consists of 4 double rooms (8 beds). Each 2 nd floor wing consists of 5 double rooms (10 beds). Students will not be able to choose an entire wing as a group - it is all based on lottery numbers generated by the computer.
MEDICAL SINGLE You must submit medical documentation and complete the Medical Single Application by April 9, 2015 to Health Services/Red House for review. This must be completed every year! If a bathroom is needed your documentation from your physician needs to indicate that specifically. Students who have submitted a complete application will be notified after April 15, Medical singles are located in Assumption, Madonna, McAuley and Rosary Hall
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION An upper-class student may pull in an underclass student with their lottery number. This does not apply to North & South Hall. A current resident student may pull in a current commuter with their lottery number. If a student has an outstanding balance with the University or does not pay the $ Housing Deposit by April 20, 2015 they cannot choose a room on April 24, If you pay your Housing Deposit after April 20, 2015, you will select your room after Room Selection.

ROOM SELECTION PROCESS Show up during your designated time slot with completed Housing Application. If not, you wait until the end of the group selects. The line will be organized by class lottery number (#1- ?) When it is your turn, you will mention which hall you would like to live in You will be directed to the proper table. If someone is selecting in that residence hall, you will wait until they have selected. You select the room based upon availability and a staff member will write in on your Housing Application. Hand in your Housing Application to exit table
CANNOT MAKE ROOM SELECTION? If a student cannot make Room Selection they can have a student proxy for them. The student must fill out a Housing Application and Room Selection Proxy form. Also, you need to designate a person to pick your Fall room assignment. If the Proxy form and Housing Application is not filled out/signed by the absent student then that proxy cannot choose a room for that student.
THE HOUSING APPLICATION The housing application is for one (1) academic year The housing application is on the Residential Life myUSJ page and must be downloaded and printed Students will not be allowed to just decide to move out of housing after a contract has been signed and a room has been selected There is a process to follow!
WITHDRAWAL PROCESS If a student plans to move out of housing they must submit a Housing Withdrawal form outlining reasons for withdrawal before August 1, 2015 to the Residential Life Office. A withdrawal committee will review the request and render a decision.
