Challenges  Identify, hire, and train quality online instructors (LVS and OPD)  Prepare quality mathematics teachers in increasing numbers to meet demands of HS Redesign  Prepare students and teachers for the skills necessary for success in the 21st century and global economy

Bulletin 746--§668 Mathematics Areas (Algebra I)  Eligibility Requirements:  valid Type B or Level 2 Louisiana teaching certificate (requires 3 years of teaching experience);  complete the following pd programs:  Algebra I Awareness workshop;  Topics for Algebra Leaders and Instructors (TALI) workshop (face-to-face or online); and  Algebra I online modules (the entire series) or an approved college-level mathematics course(s) addressing the same content covered in the Algebra I online modules  Pass the Praxis Middle School Mathematics exam (0069);  Pass the Praxis Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT) 7-12 exam (0524) or a college-level course addressing the same content covered on the Praxis exam.

Bulletin 746--§665 Ed Technology Areas (Online Instruction)  Eligibility Requirements:  valid Type B or Level 2 Louisiana teaching certificate (requires 3 years of teaching experience) or equivalent Out- of-State teaching certificate;  Complete an online course or combination of online courses focused on the following topics:  best practices in online course delivery  facilitation skills that foster reflective discussions in an online learning environment  effective strategies for assessing learning in the online environment.  techniques for using online tools to address student learning needs  asynchronous discussion and online course-authoring tools  ethical and legal issues related to the use of online resources  Complete an online teaching intern experience (at least 1 semester in length) or successfully serve as an instructor/facilitator of an online course (at least 6- weeks in length).
