Submitted by: Sara Jones, Jenny Martinez, & Christie Medina Florida State University Higher Education Program MyEU A Portal for Ellingsburg University

 A portal brings personalized and specific information users want right to their fingertips. This way students, faculty, & staff do not have to navigate an extensive university website.  Having access to technology increases the communication between faculty and students and also increases the proliferation of learner communities (1).(1)  A personalized service portal decreases the distance between students, faculty, and university services while increasing a sense of community (1).(1) Reasoning ChannelsTeamsFeedback Tech-based systemsOrganizationLiteratureGood Practices

These are the people who will benefit the most from a centralized, personalized system.

 Vital information that all students must know will be automatically present on their personalized portal. These administrative channels are:  Admissions/Registrar  EU Division of Student Affairs  My Courses  All of the specific channels provide a means to assist students from the admissions process, through graduation, and even as alumni. However, students will still be able to display the information that is pertinent to them.  End-user Groups We will seek equal representation from students, faculty, and staff to evaluate our progress at each stage of the portal development.  After developing a prototype we will solicit feedback from our focus and end-user groups.  End-users will be given evaluations to further explain what they feel needs to be changed, deleted, or added to the prototype.  “To produce an infrastructure toolkit and framework that enables campus offices to ‘plug’ services into the portal framework and use the portal toolkit making the ‘portal’ their method of service delivery” (2).(2)  Examples of sites that currently contain password protected information that will be accessed through a single sign-on method are: Financial Aid, Blackboard, WebMail, Human Resources, and Admissions/Registrar.  There will be a consistent look and feel to all services thus making them easier to use.  However, our users will have the ability to customize the portal to their own needs.  There will be some standard links all students, faculty, and staff need to have (i.e. University Announcements, Campus Events, Academic Calendar) Tech-based systems Organization LiteratureGood Practices ReasoningChannelsTeamsFeedback
