C OMMUNICATION M ODULE Sharmmms’s communication module shows both the senders and receivers ability to switch roles. Meaning, the sender will be a receiver and the receiver will also be a sender at some point. The communication module breaks down how we send and receive messages. What’s interesting is that the communication module to me is very accurate. I send the message, things such as noise, culture and non verbal communications interfere and you the receiver decode and so on and so forth; it keeps revolving. I chose the communication module because, I do feel it is important to get yourself familiar with this process to begin the understanding on how we communicate will help you in daily life. To not forget there are many parts to communication however to me the communication module is one of the foundations to getting that process started. Schramms, 1954

P RESENTATION When building a presentation there are three components in which you need to keep in mind while creating a presentation. Organization is one, have an introduction / thesis statement, body and conclusion. This organization is extremely important, without it I do believe you cannot properly convey a message; to your audience. Second, who’s your audience? Knowing your audience with help you properly pick a topic or give you a sense on how you are going to present. Without knowing your audience, might hinder how information will be interpreted. Third, rehearse the information your are going to present. The more you practice the more confidence you build and more information gets stored into your long term memory and the easier it will be able to recall. Moreover, not rehearsing will convey in your presentation and might result in miscommunication, with the information your are trying to give. Overall, with these fundamentals I have learned in class, have given me a better understanding of how to communicate more effectively while giving a presentation.

S ELF D ISCLOSURE Self Disclosure is defined as, ones willingness to give information about ones self. With the assumption that he or she doesn't have prior knowledge. What I liked most about Self Disclosure in this class, is the importance Self Disclosure has on various types of relationships. An example would be, in the work place, school, friendships and strangers. Making connections with others, impacts the type of relationship you intend to have with that person. It also, gives you a sense of someone being human. For instances, the President of the United States uses Self Disclosure to build relationships and make connections with others. I do believe in some instances, this is how he won the election. More over Self Disclosure is important in everyday life using self disclosure helps build relationships and gives us a sense of familiarity.

C ONCLUSION Overall, I have learned many new things in this class however, their are three topics that stick out to me. Starting with, the communication module. Being able to understand this process, gives you a sense on how communication is transposed. Next, being able to properly create and convey a presentation properly and effectively. This is something I will from now and forever use in every day life, work, my military career and so on. Finally, being Self Disclosure using this tool to build relationships gives people a sense of me being human and opens the doors to the unknown. Thank you.
