Bianca Fernandez will you go to homecoming with Greg Somers? Day

How many atoms in 2 moles of CO 2 ? Day moles CO 2 3 atoms 1 molecule = 6.022e23 molecules 1 mole CO 2 3.6e24 atoms x x

Period 1: Lab Reports are due now Period 3: Lab Reports are due tomorrow Day

1. Write a balanced chemical equation for the reaction between solid zinc and solid sulfur. 2. What is the reaction type? Day

CORRECT AMOUNT = 3.21 grams 1/10 the molar mass of Zn reacts with 1/10 of the molar mass of S So why is it 1/10 for 1/10? Why not 1/10 for 2/10 or 3/10? And where’d the masses come from?

The key came from a combination of the atomic masses and the chemical equation: Zn + S  ZnS For every one “piece” of Zn we need one “piece” of S to form one “piece of ZnS 1/10 for 1/10

So where’d the masses come from?

So what was the key?

Day Read + review section 10.1 (pages ) AND complete #s 9-15  due on Wednesday 9-28 AND last 3 on notes page

Define mole. Explain how a mole is like a counter. Explain how a mole relates to mass.

Particles Molecules Atoms Mass (grams) Volume (liters) MOLES Avogadro’s # e23 Molar mass Molar Volume – 22.4 L/mol

If you started with 1.5 moles of zinc for the zinc and sulfur lab, how many grams of zinc would you have had? Day

You do NOT have to write this one: Sit with your lab group from yesterday and get out your lab handout! Day
