BIOLOGICAL ORGANIZATIONLEVELS
Species Species is the technical name given for a kind of organisms for example all people are considered to be one species distinct from other primates based on common appearence and more importantly that all races can and do interbreed with each other and producing fertile offspring. Example: "lion," "walrus," and "Camphor tree" – each refers to a species.
Population A population is all the organisms that both belong to the same species and live in the same geographical area. Typically populations are subdivided into smaller groups: a pack of wolves, pride of lions, colony of ants. Example: A group of lions living in the African Savanna. A group of bees in a honeycomb.
Community A community is all the populations of different species living and interacting together in a distinct area. common location. For example, a forest of trees and undergrowth plants, inhabited by animals and rooted in soil containing bacteria and fungi, constitutes a biological community.
Ecosystem Ecosystems are distingushable groups of species and the abiotic(non-living) components of the environment with which the living creatures interact. Examples of ecosystems include ponds, forests, prairies.
