ICP Shutdown

Pump Flush the nebulizer spray chamber with acid for 5 minutes by choosing the location of the 3% HNO3 and moving the sample needle “position”. Flush the nebulizer with water for 5 minutes by moving the needle to the water position. Flush the nebulizer with air for 5 minutes by moving the sample needle to “zero”. Turn off the pump by clicking the pump icon. The turntable will start moving.

Plasma Extinguish the plasma by clicking the plasma icon again. Wait for the entire shutdown process to complete (about a minute)

The program Shutdown the Smart Analyzer Software. Note: The program will not shutdown unless the plasma shutdown process is complete.

Autosampler Turn the Autosampler to “Off”. Release the pump tubes behind the Autosampler and on the ICP. If the tubes are not unclamped they become flattened and must be replaced. (To change these tubes see “ICP Cleaning/Repairs Pump Tubes”. ICP Pump Tubes Autosampler Pump Tubes

Cooling Water Turn the cooling water switch to the “Off” position. Note: Do not turn off the cooling water before the plasma. This will cause a cooling error on the next run and could be possibly detrimental to the instrument.

Argon Turn off the Argon by closing all of the valves that correspond to the tank being used as well as the smaller valve.

**Important** DO NOT TURN OFF POWER TO THE INSTRUMENT.
