In 1949, Japanese Union of Scientists and Engineers originated the concept of QC as the vehicle for SQC. Quality Circle is a group of about ten workers from the same divisions of a company who volunteer to meet for an hour or so, once or twice in a month. After work, they discuss ways to improve the quality of their products s, the production process in their part of the plant and the working environment The long-term objective is to build a sense of responsibility for improving quality but the immediate goal is to exchange ideas. Quality Circle (QC)

To develop an organization to develop respect for human relations and induce job satisfaction To deploy human capabilities to the fullest extent possible and draw out their infinite potential OBJECTIVES

It is a group effort It is voluntary in nature Efforts of employees are directed towards quality control in their respective places of work Members of QC meet frequently at company cost. They are paid extra by the company for the work of quality control they contribute. The QC group is a tem of volunteers without any bias of rank, sex or age. Their main aim is to find out ways and means of improving quality of product and services without incurring additional cost. Characteristics

BHLE is the pioneer organization in India to have started the QC functions, in The objectives of BHEL for QC are: Reduce human error and enhance quality Inspire more effective teamwork Promote job involvement Increase employee motivation Build an attitude of problem prevention Improve company communication Develop harmonious manager-worker relationship. Promote personal and leadership Quality Circle (QC) in India
