Still, whenever I run across the term "pastor" in Scripture, I always think of the senior pastor of a church. I know this definition in my mind is cultural--but what is its definition when used in Scripture? Specifically, I read Ephesians 4:11-12, and it seemed quite natural to me to fit "senior pastor" in where "pastor" goes. So what was Paul talking about when he said "pastor"? Was it a job like Paul's? Or, was it stationary, with a certain church? Where did this "pastor" job fall in the hierarchy of the early church, and how has the church historically moved away from that blueprint?"
