Problem 2 week 18

Question A basketball coach wants to hang 3 plaques on a wall. She wants to hang the three plaques side by side so that they are centered horizontally with 6 inches of space between each plaque. She also wants the center of each plaque to be 5 ft. from the floor. If each plaque is 14 inches tall & 20 inches wide, where should she place the top-left corner of the first plaque on the left?

What I know Basketball coach wants to hang 3 plaques. The wall is 9ft. High and 11 ft. wide. Wants the plaques to be side by side so that there centered horizontally w/ 6 in. of space Wants each center of each plaque to be 5 ft. from the floor. Each plaque is 14in. Tall & 20 in. wide.

I labeled the wall 9ft. High & 11ft. Wide. 9ft. 11ft.

Then labeled each plaque 14 inches tall & 20inches wide.

6 inches I labeled that the middle plaque is suppose to be 6 inches separate from the right & left plaques.

5.5 ft. (66inches) 9ft. 11 ft. 6 inches I did half of 11 b/c I needed to find where she would place the top-left corner of the 1 st plaque. I split 20 into separate 10’s b/c I had divided 11 into half

ft (66 inches) 6 in. so I added to find what was the distance left = 36 inches Then I subtracted 66 – 36 = 30 to see how much more I needed left to figure out the rest of 66.

She wanted the plaques to centered & be 5ft from the floor. 7 in 5 feet

She wants the plaques to be 5ft from the floor & she wants to figure the rest of the measurement in order for her to place the plaques. 9 ft. So the wall is 9ft & she wants each plaque to be 5 ft from the floor. So I 7 in

My answer is 3 feet,5 inches from the wall.
