Learning to cook Hot Apples! We will learn how to cook apples applying our math skills! Follow me to learn how…

Looks like you made it, lets get started… In this lesson, we will learn how to make hot apples as a class We will apply math skills we have learned to count the ingredients Each student will help contribute counting and measuring all ingredients to make this yummy treat!

Thanks for keeping up, lets take a look at materials needed We will need the following… 1)Smocks 2)Crock pot 3)Apples 4)All ingredients and spices 5)Cooking utensils 6)Happy Smiles! Now let’s take a look at the recipe!

So far, so good! Now we can look at the recipe… Recipe for Hot Apples o10 apples- peeled and sliced o1 ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon o¼ teaspoon allspice o¾ cup milk o2 tablespoons butter, softened o¾ cup sugar o2 eggs o1 teaspoon vanilla, for taste o1 ½ cup Bisquick o1/3 cup brown sugar o3 tablespoons cold butter Ready to make this yummy treat??

Now that we have looked at all ingredients lets see what we do with them… Directions for making Hot Apples 1.Clean and cut apples 2.Toss apples in a large bowl with cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg 3.Combine milk, softened butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla and ½ cup Bisquick 4.Spoon over apples Let’s Bake them!

Now that we have looked at all ingredients lets see what we do with them… Continued… Directions for making Hot Apples 5. Combine the 1 cup Bisquick & brown sugar 6. Cut the butter into the mixture until crumbly 7. Sprinkle the mixture over the top of the other Bisquick mixture 8. Cover and cook on low in crock pot for 5 hours or until apples are soft Let’s Bake them!

Now that we have our directions lets start preparing… Let’s get into groups at our assigned tables! At your table please look through the provided cook books Pick at least TWO recipes you are interested in learning to make You will be making these recipes over the next two weeks at home Learning to cook is FUN!

We can prepare by finding that favorite recipe to tell the class about… Stay at you table until your group is called oEach group will be called up to the cooking table to help prepare our “Hot Apples” oWhen your waiting your group’s turn is when you will look over the material in the cook book oPlease be patient- we will all get our turn to help count and measure! Bring a GREAT recipe to share

Fantastic! Groups will now be called on… Let’s start with group number 1 Group number 1 will help wash the apples and toss them in the large bowl with 1 ¼ teaspoons ground cinnamon, place lightly in Crockpot But first don’t forget to wash your Hands!

Fantastic! Groups will now be called on… Next is group number 2 Group number 2 will combine milk, softened butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla & the ½ cup of Bisquick then spoon over the apples But first don’t forget to wash your Hands!

Groups will now be called on… Next is group number 3 Group number 3 will combine the 1 cup Bisquick & brown sugar, cut the butter into the mixture until crumbly sprinkle over the mixture, cover and cook on low for 5 hours or until apples are soft But first don’t forget to wash your Hands!

All we have to do is wait for our apples to cook! While we wait for our apples…let’s look at our recipes we picked While our apples are cooking we will decided on the TWO recipes that we will take home and cook!
