Chemistry Dr. Sharma’s Class Ph.D., M.Ed.

About me I am a life long learner! This is my twelfth year teaching Chemistry I did my Doctorate from India and then M.Ed. from Seattle University in Special Education I taught at Lake Washington School District for three years before I transformed into a Spartan! I have two kids and one of them is at Skyline I am super passionate about my subject and have high standards for my students and myself I am here to help students learn and grow!!! It’s a journey

What are the learning outcomes? Chemistry is a new subject, new language: sharp learning curve Metrics, Measurements, Lab ware, Lab instruments Periodic Table ( Element Symbols, Formulas, Compounds, Types of reactions, writing balanced equations) Atomic Structure Bond Formation Thermodynamics and Energy Predicting spontaneous and non-spontaneous reactions Kinetics and Equilibrium

Ready to Learn! Safe Lab attire : promotes minimum contact between skin and chemical Work shirt that covers upper torso and arms. Closed toe shoes Avoid synthetic clothes Safety goggles No dangling jewelry Lab coat optional Homework/Pre-lab Spiral notebook

How will the students be assessed? Participation: Students will be graded on homework (expect daily). It should not take more than minutes (if it takes more time then it means, the student is struggling and needs to see me)..Quizzes.Tests.Labs

How can I help my student to be successful? Research supports reviewing helps in retention and HW plays an important role in reinforcing the newly acquired concepts.

Pre-requisites and Pre-assessments Basic Algebra 1 Math skills Assessment : Reflection and follow up Chemistry pre and post assessments by the district The pre grades will not be counted
