Early Life Born on July 30, 1863, Henry grew up on a farm near Detroit Michigan.Henry enjoyed tinkering with mechanical objects throughout his childhood. Henry Ford, age 2

Early Work Henry Ford began to work as a machinist in Detroit in He also became adept at operating and repairing steam engines while he worked for Westinghouse company.

Personal Life Henry wed Clara Bryant in 1888, and they had a child named Edsel Ford

Career Ford began his work as an engineer for the Edison Illuminating Company. He was promoted to chief engineer in 1893, and began to do his own experimentations with gasoline.

The Assembly Line The assembly line is a manufacturing process in which parts are applied in subsequent order in order to maximize production and speed. Henry Ford was the first to apply this principle to automotive manufacturing, and thus dominated the automotive industry. Footage from 1919 of the Ford Model T assembly line

Ford Production Strategy Henry Ford paid his workers 5 dollars per day, which was unheard of in the 1920's. Because of the exceptionally high pay, Ford's workers were very content with their work, had high morale, and came to work regularly, unlike other factory workers.

Model T The Model T was simple, cheap, effective, and very customizable. Because of the versatility of the Model T, it is the most widely known vehicle of its time. In the 1920's, the vast majority of people learned to drive in a Model T, and over 15 million of them were produced before they were discontinued.

Ford in Aviation Henry Ford also built aircraft during the beginning of WWI, like most automotive manufacturing companies. Henry Ford's most successful airplane was the Ford 4AT Trimotor, nicknamed the Tin Goose.

The Ford Motor Company Legacy Founded in 1903, Ford Motor Company pioneered the automotive industry and laid the foundation for modern automobiles. Ford is currently the second largest automotive company in the US, and the fifth largest in the world. The Ford Motor Company is a true example of the American dream fulfilled.
