HOW DID WISCONSIN GET INVOVLED? U.S. Department of Education Office of Vocational and Adult Education sent a RFP announcement.  Great opportunity to expand Wisconsin’s work in the area of programs of study  Announcement of the award was in October, 2010  $258,400/year up to a maximum of four years

WHY MANUFACTURING Wisconsin is home to over 9,000 manufactures Manufacturing accounts for $47 billion to our state’s economy The manufacturing industry ranks #2 in Wisconsin gross state product The manufacturing industry employs 448,000 workers Six states in total were awarded RPOS grants Arizona – EducationKansas – STEM Maryland – AutomotiveMontana – Construction Utah – Health ScienceWisconsin - Manufacturing

WHO IS INVOLVED The Northcentral Technical College area and four area local high schools  Wausau West  Wausau East  D.C. Everest  Spencer

WHAT IS A RPOS? Focuses on the ten components  The ten components are currently embedded into the five areas of our current Carl Perkins application

Spencer High School  Framework element year 2 action steps:  Partnerships with Industry  to develop and communicate industry skill requirements  Teaching and learning  Develop learning communities between core academic and career & technical education  Technical Skills Assessment  Streamline manufacturing TSA document for classroom

Spencer High School Enhancement of RPOS elements  Partnerships:  -NTC - Transcripted-credit-and additional partnerships  Local Manufacturing Businesses  Guidance Counseling and Academic Advisement:  CTE team leader-pathway development  Career counseling 8 th and 10 th grades with parental involvement through WISCAREERS website  Grant money uses:  Local core and CTE collaboration, tours, curriculum development, consortium in-service of CTE and core

EVALUATION We will be using data to evaluate the effectivness of our work. The evaluation will using RPOS concentrators versus non-RPOS concentrators.
