Developed by Carolyn Becker as a part of the Reflections: Body Image Program For Tri Delta sorority

Reflections a peer-led program The purpose of Reflections is to help sorority sisters establish and maintain a positive body image. The first scientifically supported evidence based eating disorders prevention program designed for and with sororities Reflections endeavors to help participants resist the ultrathin, unrealistic ideal standard of female beauty prevalent in today’s society. Using highly interactive, peer-led, small groups, Reflections is a two-day, intervention program designed by experts and implemented through trained peer leaders on college campuses throughout North America.

Reflections has a proven track record 8 months after the program, 53% of participants at one school no longer felt strongly that their weight influenced how they felt about themselves as a person. 48% of women at one college said they "felt fat almost every day" before the program felt that way never or less than half the time up to 8 months after the program. Over 50% of participants who felt their shape often interfered with their ability to concentrate before the program experienced a dramatic decrease well after the program. No other peer-led eating disorders prevention program is supported by such rigorous testing by independent scientists as Reflections.

Reflections: Body Image Academy a three-day interactive workshop designed to prepare students and/or professional staff to implement the Reflections: Body Image Program in their respective organizations. Tri Delta’s creation of BIA enables organizations— including other Greek-letter organizations and colleges and universities—to adopt, adapt and facilitate the program according to their own needs and structure while still maintaining the integrity of the overall research design and program model

Fat Talk Free Week A 5 day public awareness effort to raise awareness about the dangers of “fat talk” and the impact it has on women’s overall self-esteem and confidence. As a part of the Reflections program, those who have gone through the peer-led training would also provide leadership for the Fat Talk Free Week activities and events. It is not required to go through Reflections to host a Fat Talk Free Week on your campus.

Fat Talk Free Week The 2010 campaign asked supporters to spread the message of Fat Talk Free® Week by inviting their friends and family to share the message of ending fat talk through self-expression and social media.

Fat Talk Free Week at TCU “Fat Talk Free Zones” around campus with materials and opportunities to add to the positive body talk chain. Community Eating Disorder professionals helped to support the program by gathering parts of the chain from schools and other community organizations Participants wrote a positive image on a slip of paper that was later chained to others and displayed across the commons spanning about 50 yards.
