Result of Our Survey

Cheating Survey Cheating is something that students do to get better grades. Which is either looking at other student’s exam paper or working together with other students. Cheating is usually done during tests. Here are some reasons why students cheat: To get the ‘perfect’ grade Lack of self confidence Because of the chances for cheating There are many ways of cheating, which is looking at text books containing answer, looking at other student’s exam papers, working with other students, etc.

Cheating happens everywhere, including our school, SMPN 1 Bogor (Junior High School 1 Bogor). And know, we created a survey to see just how many students cheat during tests. We gave this survey to 7th, 8th, and 9th graders consisting ± 110 students respondents.

The survey consisted of 5 questions, which are: Have you ever cheated? How often do you cheat? Do you know that cheating is wrong? Are you sure about the answers you get by cheating? What consequences do you get if you were caught cheating? The result will be shown in this presentation…

In this survey, we took about 110 respondent who came from grade 7,8,and 9. And the result are: 106 students have been cheating while 4 students never cheat. From that number, can be classified namely: 38 student from grade 7 have been cheating while 2 others not 40 student from grade 8 have been cheating while no one never cheat 28 student from grade 9 have been cheating while 2 others not

19 students often cheat on a test, while 51 students sometimes cheat and 38 others rarely cheat. From that number, we can classified namely: 4 student from grade 7 often cheat on a test, while 13 students sometimes cheat and 23 others rarely cheat. 7 student from grade 8 often cheat on a test, while 26 students sometimes cheat and 7 others rarely cheat. 8 student from grade 9 often cheat on a test, while 12 sometimes cheat and 8 others rarely cheat.

97 students realize that cheating is wrong, while 13 others don’t realize it. From that number, we can classified namely: 38 student from grade 7 realize that cheating is wrong, while 2 others not. 37 student from grade 8 realize that cheating is wrong, while 3 others not. 22 student from grade 9 realize that cheating is wrong, while 8 others not.

9 students absolutely sure for the answer from cheating, while 74 students not so sure and 23 others not sure sometimes. 3 student from grade 7 absolutely sure for the answer from cheating, while 23 students not so sure and 12 others not sure sometimes. 1 student from grade 8 absolutely sure for the answer from cheating, while 32 students not so sure and 7 others not sure sometimes. 5 student from grade 9 absolutely sure for the answer from cheating, while 19 students not so sure and 4 others not sure sometimes.

In SMP N 1 Bogor, almost everybody feel guilty after cheating and the score is better if they cheat. And they’d get punishment after caught cheating.
