Our Table - SouthCoast Serves SouthCoast Serves is a University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, Leduc Center for Civic Engagement connector project that fosters service and volunteerism to meet the needs of our community by leveraging resources, expertise and capacity to maximize impact.

SouthCoast Serves believes through service we can take responsibility for our region’s future. The vision of SouthCoast Serves is to effectively engage youth in our community through meaningful service and volunteerism. 2014 Food Justice Campaign Results Collaboration with artists brings awareness Panel discussion and showing of “A Place at the Table” at UMass Dartmouth UMassD and BCC students/staff joined together to participate in the 2014 Walk for Hunger SouthCoast Serves increased partnership Students at UMass Dartmouth began the UMassD Hunger Initiative to alleviate hunger on campus Awareness raised of local volunteer opportunities available to help with the issue of food justice Defined focus of food justice as a core SCS issue

2015 Food Justice Campaign Results Increased student volunteers at local food pantries Food Justice panel discussion at UMassD highlighting SMFSN findings UMassD and BCC students/staff joined together again to participate in the 2015 Walk for Hunger Students at UMass Dartmouth developed the Students Helping Students food pantry out of the Hunger Initiative begun the previous year Awareness raised of local volunteer opportunities available to help with the issue of food justice Held multiple fair trade markets on UMassD campus to raise awareness of fair trade products Trained coordinator for Buyer’s Club to begin selling fair trade Equal Exchange products on UMassD campus SCS focus on food justice helped us gain a better understanding of local food justice concerns and ways to alleviate the issue through partnerships and volunteerism
